Community Testimonials

The partnership Tunxis Community College has with the Bristol Public School has allowed us to recruit mentors from the ranks of its student body that have provided wonderful role models for our students. We feel our program benefits both the mentor and mentee by creating learning opportunities that expand their horizons.

-Jeanine Audette, District Coordinator Mentor and School to Business Partnership Programs, Bristol Board of Education

Having David and Miriam volunteer at Peter’s Retreat was a true pleasure. Beyond donating their time and effort to fulfill the needs of the program, the treasure in their service was the connection they were able to make with the residents. Their interest in the residents and our program truly showed their passion in service  and is what creates truly special partnerships in our community.

Hawkwing is very grateful for the partnership we have with the Tunxis Community College Dental Hygiene Program.  Through our combined efforts, hundreds of children on the Cheyenne River Lakota/Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota have received critically needed dental services since 2008!

The Imagine Nation Museum is most appreciative of our partnership with Tunxis, we enjoy working with the students through the Service Learning Program helping them to develop skills, work experience and building community engagement.

The Main Street Community Foundation was fortunate to partner with Tunxis Community College on two projects. The first one supported the Foundation’s Immediate Response Funds by collecting gift cards for food, clothing and other basic needs so that non-profits in the area could give a helping hand to those in need.

The second project was to raise awareness of the non-profits in our area by meeting with them and finding out what services they provide and what they might need to better serve their clients. The results of these interviews are found on our website under “Community Wish List”.

For both projects the Foundation found the students that we partnered with to be responsive and eager to learn about the needs in the community as well as the organizations that work with the different populations. We would like to thank Tunxis Community College for this opportunity to work together and further our mission which is to enhance the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities we serve.

-Jarre Betts, Director of Programs and Community Relations, Main Street Community Foundation, Bristol CT
